Участник баннерообмена показывает на своих страницах баннеры других участников, для чего размещает на страницах своего сайта код сети. За это он получает право и возможность показывать свою рекламу на страницах других участников. Количество показов своей рекламы на чужих сайтах прямо пропорционально количеству показов чужой рекламы у себя. Владелец баннерообменной сети берет с участников комиссию, обычно 15-25 % от всех баннерных показов, которые может использовать по своему усмотрению (в рамках рекламной политики), например, продавать рекламодателям.
